What is official
Rockstar's GTA VI page talks about the story: Jason and Lucia, Vice City and a criminal conspiracy that spans Leonida. Its support page covers editions, bonuses and dates. Neither mentions an online mode. When pre-orders opened on June 24, 2026, the press release and store pages, as reported by TheSixthAxis and The Ringer, described the game as a single-player experience. The PlayStation Store page we checked today still says so and lists one player. That wording tells us what the game is at launch. It does not say what Rockstar might add later.
Is there a GTA 6 Online release date?
No. Rockstar has not given a date, a name or a window for any online mode. Everything you see about "GTA 6 Online release date" comes from guesses and leaks.

The precedent argument goes like this. GTA Online arrived about two weeks after GTA V in 2013, and Red Dead Online's beta came about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2. Some writers use that to guess a December window. Precedent is not a plan, and Rockstar changes its approach between games.

Earlier in the year he said he had every reason to believe it would continue after GTA VI arrives. This is about the current game, GTA V, not a new online mode. The GTA+ clue
Rockstar's support page says digital pre-orders of the Standard or Ultimate Edition made before November 20, 2026 include one month of GTA+. GTA+ is the paid membership for GTA Online. The PlayStation page adds that you must claim it by March 31, 2027, and that it renews as a paid plan afterward unless you cancel. Some fans read this as a hint about the future. It is a bonus for the current online game, and Rockstar has not tied it to a GTA VI mode.

What the character switching tells us
The Extended Look showed one button that swaps between Lucia and Jason. Some viewers asked if that means two-player co-op. Nothing in Rockstar's material says so. It reads as a single-player tool: you control one hero, and the game controls the other.
