Typing a secret word and suddenly spawning a tank is one of the most iconic GTA moments ever. So it is no surprise that "GTA 6 cheats" is one of the most searched questions before launch. Let's separate what is confirmed from what is just hope.
The answer right now: nothing announced
As of October 2026, Rockstar has not announced any cheat codes for GTA VI. Nothing about cheats has been confirmed in the two trailers, the 26-minute Extended Look or the big Game Informer #382 cover story. The game launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and only then will players be able to find out for sure.
That does not mean there will be none. It just means nobody outside Rockstar knows yet. If a website shows you a full "GTA 6 cheat list" today, it is invented.
GTA VINovember 19, 2026How cheats worked in classic GTA
Cheats have changed a lot over the years. In the PC versions of GTA: Vice City (2002) and GTA: San Andreas (2004), you simply typed a word during gameplay. No menu, no confirmation: type it, and the effect kicks in. Some codes were real words, others were random letters like the famous HESOYAM for health, armor and money.
On consoles, the same cheats were button combinations you entered on the controller. Here is a taste of the San Andreas classics:
| Effect | Code |
|---|---|
| Health, armor, $250,000 and car repair | |
| Infinite health | |
| Never wanted | |
| Lower wanted level | |
| Weapon set 1 | |
| Weapon set 2 | |
| Weapon set 3 | |
| Spawn a Rhino tank | |
| Jetpack | |
| Hydra jet | |
| Hunter helicopter | |
| Infinite ammo | |
| Infinite lung capacity | |
| Max muscle |

Phones, combos and phrases
From GTA IV onwards, Rockstar added a new way to cheat: the in-game phone. You dialled a special number, and the cheat activated. GTA V kept that idea and gave most cheats three versions: a button combo, a phone number, and a typed code on PC.
In GTA V, cheats work only in story mode, and using them disables achievements and trophies for that session. They never work in GTA Online. See the full, verified list in our GTA 5 cheats guide.
Red Dead Redemption 2 went a different way. Instead of codes, cheats are whole phrases, like little sentences, that you type into the Cheats menu in the settings. You can read them all in our RDR2 cheats guide.
So will GTA 6 have cheats?
Here is the honest view. Rockstar has included cheats in its big open-world story games for over two decades, from Vice City to GTA V and RDR2. That history makes many fans hopeful. But history is not a promise, and Rockstar has said nothing about cheats for GTA VI.
What we can say with confidence:
- Confirmed: no cheats have been announced for GTA VI.
- Confirmed: GTA VI launches as a story game, with no online mode announced for launch.
- Unknown: whether cheats exist, how you would enter them, and whether they would block trophies.
If GTA VI does have cheats, expect the same rule as before: story mode only, for your own fun.
Beware fake GTA 6 cheats and scam downloads
Fake GTA VI content is everywhere right now. Some sites post made-up cheat lists to get clicks. Others are more dangerous: they offer "GTA 6 cheat tools", "mod menus" or "early access" downloads. A fake "113GB GTA 6 ISO" that circulated online was actually malware.
- Never download a program that promises GTA VI cheats before the game is out.
- Never enter your PlayStation, Xbox or Rockstar login on a cheat website.
- GTA VI is not on PC at launch, so any PC "cheat tool" for it is a scam.
- Using hacks in online games can get your account banned. Cheats belong in single-player only.
