The story of DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015
Team EnVyUs had finished second at the previous Major, and in Cluj-Napoca they made no mistake: a 2–0 over Natus Vincere on Train (16–14) and Cobblestone (16–5). Kenny "kennyS" Schrub was MVP, and for him and apEX it was a first Major title. NBK-, Happy and kioShiMa won their second, after the first one with Team LDLC.com. The event changed how Challengers were chosen: for the first time, the eight Challenger spots were filled from one qualifier, DreamHack Open Stockholm, instead of several regional qualifiers. EnVyUs rose to world number one in the HLTV ranking right after the event.
Format
Sixteen teams in four round-robin groups with a GSL-style decider (best-of-one, with a best-of-three for the second playoff spot), then an eight-team single-elimination playoff. 16 teams took part, and the prize pool was $250,000.
