Lucia GTA 6 and Jason GTA 6 are the two playable leads of Grand Theft Auto VI: Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Rockstar has shared their names, a short story setup and some background through trailers, its website and a LOVE Magazine interview. It has not announced who voices them. This page separates what is official from what is guesswork, as checked on October 14, 2026.
Key takeaways
- Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are both playable. Rockstar's GTA VI page describes them as a pair pulled into a criminal conspiracy across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong.
- Lucia appeared by name in Trailer 1 (December 2023). Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) opens with her leaving prison.
- Rockstar writers and executives talked about both leads in LOVE Magazine issue 27, covered by Vice and others between October 2 and 5, 2026.
- There is no separate "Lucia statement" from Rockstar that we could find. The recent official comments come from that interview. Rockstar did post one general statement on leaks on August 26, 2026.
- Rockstar has not officially named the voice actors for Jason or Lucia.
Why people are searching for Lucia this week
Google Trends in the US shows spikes for searches such as "gta6 lucia" and "rockstar games gta 6 lucia statement". Two things explain most of it. First, the LOVE Magazine interview put Lucia in headlines in early October, with outlets like Vice and Forbes reporting what Rockstar's writers said about her. Second, leaked material about the story has been circulating, and some outlets wrote about Rockstar's response. We do not describe leaked content on this site. Leaks exist, they may be wrong or unsafe to open, and our guide to GTA 6 leaks and staying safe explains how to avoid them.
Did Rockstar make a statement about Lucia?
Here is the honest answer. We searched Rockstar's GTA VI page and Newswire page and press coverage today. We found no standalone Rockstar press statement about Lucia herself. Rockstar's site describes her only as one half of the lead pair. The headlines that say "Rockstar comments on Lucia" point to remarks in the LOVE Magazine interview, which we could verify through Vice, Forbes and TweakTown reports, not through a Rockstar post. We could not open Rockstar's Newswire article list in full, so a very recent post could be missing here.

Lucia Caminos: what Rockstar says
From the LOVE Magazine interview, as reported by Vice and TweakTown, Rockstar says Lucia is driven to build a better life and does not let obstacles stop her. Writer Alexa D'Agostino said she wanted Lucia to be a full person with her own wants and flaws, and that she should be able to stand next to Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic. She also said Lucia's hometown is Liberty City, and that women in her own life, including her mother, who grew up near Newark, New Jersey, inspired the personality. That inspiration describes the writer's mother, not Lucia's own biography.
Press summaries of Rockstar's character bio, such as GTA Intel's, say Lucia was trained to fight from a young age, ended up in Leonida Penitentiary, and wants a better life for her mother. We could not open Rockstar's bio page directly, so we mark these details as reported, not independently checked. Rockstar's own framing is that she is a playable lead. The line "first playable female protagonist in the series" comes from LOVE Magazine and press coverage of it. Treat it as a press description.
Jason Duval: what Rockstar says
Rockstar named Jason in the Trailer 2 Newswire post in May 2025. Press summaries of his official bio say he grew up around petty criminals, served in the Army, and then worked for drug runners in the Leonida Keys, and that he wants an easy life. Another bio, for the character Brian Heder, says Jason stays rent-free at one of Brian's properties in return for help with local shakedowns. LOVE Magazine describes Jason as the more reactive one, shaped by circumstances more than by his own plans. His age, army unit and rank have not been officially given.
How the two fit together
Rockstar's website says the two have always known the deck is stacked against them and must rely on each other to survive. In the interview, executive Rupert Humphries said their contrasting personalities push and pull against each other, and writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern said both leads are written as tough and vulnerable, make mistakes, and learn from each other. The phrase "a home for the family and their debts paid off" was used for their version of the American dream, which is modest compared with wealth.
"Bonnie and Clyde" is press shorthand. Rockstar's trailers and Newswire posts do not use it, though a Rockstar executive reportedly echoed it in a separate interview.
Voice actors: confirmed or not?
Rockstar has not announced casting for Jason or Lucia, and its GTA VI page lists no credits. In the interview, Gauvey-Kern praised the actress who plays Lucia without naming her. Forbes put a name on the actress, but that came from fan speculation and Rockstar has not confirmed it, so we do not repeat it here. Names attached to Jason online come from leaks and speculation. The rule of thumb: until Rockstar or the performer says it publicly, it is unconfirmed.
Switching between Jason and Lucia
The Extended Look on August 27, 2026 showed the game switching between the two. TechRadar's round-up noted fast switching. Rockstar's Rob Nelson told Famitsu that switching is limited by story progression, as reported by GTA Intel, and which missions force a swap has not been detailed. GameSpot noted that Lucia begins in prison in the first trailer, so Jason may be the first character you control. That is an inference, not a Rockstar statement.
What is still unknown
- Voice cast for both leads.
- The full plot, the ending and how long the story is.
- How much of the game you play as each character.
- Whether there is an online mode. None is announced. See what Rockstar has said about GTA 6 Online.
- Rumored heist or co-op features, which are unconfirmed.
Parents and age rating
GTA VI is rated M (Mature 17+) by the ESRB, so it is not meant for younger players. The characters are criminals in a story about crime. Read the age rating guide and the parents guide before deciding.
Common mistakes
- Treating interview remarks as a "Rockstar statement about Lucia".
- Believing a named actor from a fan post or leak.
- Clicking "leak" links.
- Assuming press nicknames such as Bonnie and Clyde are official.
