The Skippy fix is the easiest early pick, since it needs only a side job marker. NME also lists a non-lethal gold-plated baseball bat. Locations can change with patches, so check in game.

- Look at rarity color and your level. NME says Skippy scales to your level.
- Try mods. Customization can matter more than the base gun.
