Can Java and Bedrock players play together?

No. They use separate online servers, so Java players cannot join Bedrock servers and the other way round.

Which edition has mods?

Java Edition has the large third-party mod scene. Bedrock offers curated add-ons and content through the Minecraft Marketplace.

Do I need to buy both editions on PC?

No. On Windows, the Java and Bedrock bundle includes both, and Mojang says owning one edition entitles you to the other.

Do both editions get the same updates?

Yes. Both receive the same major updates, such as the yearly game drops.

Pick Bedrock if

You play on a console or phone, want controller or touch support, or want to play with friends on different devices. Bedrock also has ray tracing on supported PC graphics cards and the Character Creator for custom looks.

Get the bundle on PC
