The best Cyberpunk 2077 builds since Update 2.0 are a stealth hacker or sniper, a heavy-weapon bruiser and a Mantis Blades melee fighter. Each one reaches 20 points in three attributes by level 50. This guide explains how the system works, lists the three builds from RPG Site's patch 2.0 guide, and shows how to change your mind without losing much progress.
Key takeaways
- Stealth Hacker or Sniper: 20 Intelligence, 20 Technical Ability, 20 Cool.
- A-OK Boomer bruiser: 20 Body, 20 Reflexes, 20 Technical Ability.
- Studied the Blade with Mantis Blades: 20 Reflexes, 20 Technical Ability, 15 Cool.
- Perks can be refunded and reassigned freely. Attribute points are the hard part to change, and you get one free respec of them.
- Relic perks from Phantom Liberty are nice to have, not essential.
How progression works after 2.0
Update 2.0 redesigned the skill trees, made cyberware grant armor, overhauled the police and MaxTac, and added vehicle combat, according to GGRecon. For builds, three systems matter: attributes, perks and skills.
Attributes
Attributes run from 3 to 20. Every point gives a small general bonus, and reaching 4, 9, 15 and 20 points in an attribute unlocks a new tier of perks. The level cap is 50 in the base game and 60 with Phantom Liberty. Each attribute has a perk family tied to a combat style. Body covers shotguns, machine guns and blunt weapons. Cool covers stealth and thrown weapons. Intelligence and Technical Ability cover hacking, healing and armor.
Perks
Perks define how you play. RPG Site notes that you can refund and reassign them freely, even from the character menu in the middle of a fight. That makes perks a low-risk way to experiment.
Skills
Skills level up on their own as you use them. Pro Game Guides lists five: Headhunter for assassin-style play, Netrunner for hacking, Shinobi for melee, Solo for tough heavy-weapon builds and Engineer for armor and cyberware capacity. Each skill gives a perk point at levels 15 and 35, which adds up to 10 extra points across all five. Skills also have milestone rewards at levels 5 to 60.
The three builds at a glance
| Build | Attributes at level 50 | Main tools |
|---|---|---|
| Stealth Hacker or Sniper | Body 4, Reflexes 4, Intelligence 20, Tech 20, Cool 20 | Quickhacks, pistols, revolvers, sniper and precision rifles |
| A-OK Boomer | Body 20, Reflexes 20, Intelligence 3, Tech 20, Cool 8 | Shotguns, LMGs, HMGs, explosives, melee |
| Studied the Blade | Body 7, Reflexes 20, Intelligence 9, Tech 20, Cool 15 | Katana, Mantis Blades, smart and thrown weapons |

Build 1: Stealth Hacker or Sniper
This build stays behind cover, hacks cameras, tags enemies and wins fights before they begin. RPG Site names Overclock and Queue Mastery from Intelligence and Deadeye from Cool as key perks. The idea is to stack quickhacks and spread them between targets. Covert or Control quickhacks can boost combat hacks such as Short Circuit.
Suggested cyberware includes a Cyberdeck, Optical Camo, Kiroshi "Sentry" Optics, RAM Upgrade, Memory Boost, Bioconductor and RAM Recoup. For weapons, the guide lists pistols, revolvers, sniper rifles and precision rifles.
- Phantom Liberty tip: raise Reflexes to 15 to unlock Dash and Air Dash.
- Relic tip: Emergency Cloaking and Vulnerability Analytics pair well with Optical Camo.
- Melee variant: Relic perks such as Data Tunneling let the Monowire deliver a quickhack for free.
Build 2: The A-OK Boomer
This is the close-range bruiser. It uses explosives, shotguns and heavy machine guns, plus arm cyberware like Gorilla Arms or a Projectile Launch System. RPG Site lists Sandevistan or Berserk as the main operating system. Expensive cyberware lowers your maximum health, so Technical Ability helps by improving healing and armor.
The weakness is stealth and hacking, which this build barely touches. If you want variety, the other side of the Body tree gives blunt melee, and Reflexes opens assault rifles and SMGs. With Phantom Liberty, spend Relic points on arm cyberware first, then Vulnerability Analytics. Extra levels can go into Cool for crouch-sprinting or better throwing.
Build 3: Studied the Blade
A fast "street samurai" that fights with a Katana or Mantis Blades and uses guns only when needed. RPG Site suggests Sandevistan or Berserk, Mantis Blades, Kiroshi "Stalker" Optics, Newton Module, Kerenzikov and Reflex Tuner. Reflexes drives the blade perks, and Cool adds thrown weapons.
- With Phantom Liberty, extra Cool points improve throwing and pistol skill.
- Relic perks Jailbreak and Spatial Mapping turn Mantis Blades into a mobility tool.
- Spare points can go to Body for health or Intelligence for smart weapons.
How to choose and test a build
- Pick a playstyle first: sneaking, shooting, hacking or melee.
- Put attribute points toward that style, since attributes are the hard part to undo.
- Try the perks in a few fights. Refund anything that feels bad.
- Keep your one free attribute respec for when you truly change style.
- Check cyberware prices and capacity before buying. Our cyberware guide explains slots and costs.
Common mistakes
- Spreading points everywhere. Reaching 15 or 20 in an attribute unlocks stronger perk tiers, so focus beats variety.
- Ignoring skills. Skills level through use, so a hacker who never hacks gets no Netrunner progress.
- Buying Relic perks first. RPG Site says they are nice to have, not essential.
- Copying a build exactly. Treat these as starting points and adjust to the weapons you actually find.
