AION 2 is a free-to-play MMORPG from NC where flight is part of combat. The global PC version launched on October 5, 2026. If you have never played the first AION or any MMO, this guide gives you the basics.
Key takeaways
- The game is free on Steam and NC PURPLE. Western release is PC only.
- You pick a faction, Elyos or Asmodian, and one of eight classes.
- Servers exist for North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
- PvE has solo and group dungeons; PvP ranges from small arenas to large realm battles.
How to start
- Install the game from Steam or from NC PURPLE. Plan for about 100 GB of free space.
- Create or link an NC account when asked.
- Choose a server near you for lower ping. Newer launch servers are marked in the list.
- Pick a faction and class. Character customization has more than 200 options.
- Follow the main quest. It teaches movement, combat and flight step by step.
What makes AION 2 different
The story takes place 200 years after the first AION. The Tower of Eternity is gone, and the two factions face a stronger Balaur enemy. NC says the world is 36 times larger than the original, and the game uses Unreal Engine 5. Flying is not just travel. Aerial combat is a core feature.
Your first hour
Expect a guided start with quest markers and short fights. The game unlocks more systems as you level, so do not worry about menus you do not understand yet. Some journal content, such as Duties, may unlock only after level 45.
Content you will meet
| Type | What it is |
|---|---|
| Solo and 5-player dungeons | Story and gear content |
| 10-player raids | Harder group bosses |
| Arenas (1v1, 4v4) | Small PvP fights |
| Realm vs Realm | Large cross-server faction war |
Tips for day one
- Do not rush. Early servers can have temporary limits on new characters.
- If the game does not show as playable on Steam, restart Steam or your PC.
- Characters can now be deleted after a 24-hour wait, so a first test class is low risk.
