How many days until GTA 6?
The math is simple. From October 14 to November 19 is 36 days. The table shows a few useful marks on the way. All dates come from Rockstar's pages or are plain calendar math.
| Date | What happens | Days from Oct 14 |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday, November 12 | Digital preload begins (local midnight); physical boxes start shipping | 29 |
| Thursday, November 19 | Official launch | 36 |
| Friday, November 20 | Last day for the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus on digital purchases (purchases before this date) | 37 |
Remember that November 19 is a date, not an hour. Players in different time zones may get the game at different moments. More on that below.
What does "out" mean on each platform?
People use "is it out" to mean three different things. Here is how each one works for GTA VI.
Pre-order
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. They are already open, so you can buy now. That does not mean the game is out. Prices and bonuses are in our price and editions guide.
Preload
Rockstar's support page says preloading begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. Codes you redeem before launch start downloading then. Preload only copies files to your console. The game stays locked until launch, and it is not early access. Rockstar has not published an install size, so ignore any number you see online.
Play
Playing starts at launch on November 19. Physical copies are a box with a download code, so even disc-style buyers must download the game. See preload and performance for more.
| Platform | Status on Oct 14, 2026 |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Launch Nov 19; Rockstar's page marks it as the platform it plays best on |
| Xbox Series X|S | Launch Nov 19 |
| PS4 and Xbox One | Not listed |
| PC | Not announced |
| Nintendo Switch / Switch 2 | Not announced |
What time does GTA 6 unlock?
Rockstar has not announced an unlock time. The support page confirms only the date and the preload start. Some fan sites read store listing data and published regional times. That data is unofficial and can change, so do not plan around it. When Rockstar announces the time, it will appear on its Newswire and on the store pages. We will link it from the launch page.
Could the date change?
Anything can change, and nobody can promise otherwise. What is on record: the game was delayed twice in 2025, and since then the date has held. Take-Two's CEO said in May 2026 that the date would stay, and Rockstar kept selling pre-orders and merchandise tied to it. No new delay has been announced as of today. If news appears, it will come from Rockstar or Take-Two. Our delay explainer shows how to check.
Physical copies, time zones and bonuses
Physical boxes contain a download code, not a disc, according to Rockstar's support material. They start shipping or become available for pickup from November 12, the same day preload opens. That means a box in your hands on November 12 still cannot be played until launch. Digital purchases and pre-orders made before November 20, 2026 receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, so there is no need to panic-buy on launch morning just for that bonus.
Time zones matter because the date is the same worldwide but your local clock is not. Someone in Tokyo will reach November 19 many hours before someone in Los Angeles. Until Rockstar publishes an unlock hour, assume nothing and check the official pages on November 18.
Tips for the last 36 days
- Decide on your edition and buy through your console's official store.
- Free up space now. The size is unknown, so leave a generous margin.
- Check your internet plan for data caps before preload day.
- Turn on two-step login for your PlayStation or Microsoft account.
- Mute spoiler words on social media. Our spoiler guide helps.
- Check the Rockstar page, not rumor accounts, for date news.
Common mistakes
- Thinking preload means you can play. It does not.
- Expecting a PC release on day one. None is announced.
- Trusting a countdown on a random site. Compare it with the date above.
- Paying for "early access" or leaked builds.
