Since March 4, 2025, GTA V on PC comes in two flavors: Legacy and Enhanced. They share the same story but not the same online world, and that matters a lot if you want to play GTA RP.

What is Enhanced?
GTA V Enhanced launched on PC on March 4, 2025, as a free upgrade for people who already own the game. According to Gfinity, it adds ray-traced ambient occlusion, global illumination, shadows and reflections, FSR and DLSS 3 support, faster loading, higher resolutions and frame rates, and DualSense trigger support.
Legacy is still supported
The original version is still supported. If you upgrade, you keep both versions.
System requirements (third-party)
Corsair summarizes the Enhanced requirements as follows. These are not from Rockstar's own support page, which we could not open, so check Rockstar's page before you buy hardware.
- Minimum: Windows 10, Intel i7-4770 or AMD FX 9590, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1630 4 GB or RX 6400, 105 GB storage.
- Recommended: Windows 11, Intel i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, RTX 3060 8 GB or RX 6600 XT, 105 GB storage, an SSD with DirectStorage.
What about FiveM?
FiveM, the mod behind GTA RP, stayed on Legacy at first. On July 21, 2026, Cfx.re launched FiveM for GTA V Enhanced in early access, announced on the official Cfx.re forum. The team warns about bugs and missing features. In a development update, the cap was 2,048 players per server, and developer tools were still being rebuilt, with servers in dev mode limited to 8 slots.
A hosting vendor says that Lua, JavaScript and C# scripts should carry over, while maps and models may need conversion. That comes from a third party, so treat it with care.
Which should you choose?
- Play GTA Online: pick the version your friends use, because sessions are separate.
- Play GTA RP on a normal server: follow the server's instructions. Most use the established FiveM client.
- Want the best visuals: Enhanced, if your PC can handle it.

- If you play GTA RP, read the server's requirements first. Many communities publish which version they support.
- If your PC is older, Legacy is lighter and may run better.
- If you want better visuals in single-player, Enhanced may be the better choice.
