Elden Ring Tarnished Edition launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026. The date was first announced on June 4, 2026, and the port had been delayed in October 2025 to give time for performance adjustments, according to VGC. Here is what you get and what changed for everyone else.
Key takeaways
- The Tarnished Edition includes the base game, Shadow of the Erdtree, two new starting classes, new character armor and Torrent customization.
- The Tarnished Pack DLC and patch 1.17 launched the same day on other platforms.
- The Switch 2 price was not officially confirmed when we checked. Check the Nintendo eShop.
What is in the edition
According to the Bandai Namco press release, the Tarnished Edition includes Elden Ring, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, two new starting classes, new character armor and Torrent customization. Bandai Namco also released a gameplay showcase on August 18.
The Tarnished Pack and patch 1.17
The Tarnished Pack DLC launched on August 28 for owners on PS4, PS5, Xbox and Steam. GamingBible reports it adds the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight classes, new starter weapons, new NPC invasion events in Leyndell and Caelid, and three Torrent attires. It lists a UK price of £3.99. We could not confirm other regions.
Patch 1.17 is free on all platforms. GamingBible lists better rewards from strong Realm of Shadow enemies, buffs to many weapons and shields, skill buffs, and sorcery and incantation changes. It is required to play online. If you use mods, save before you update.
How it runs
Reviews so far describe it as running "well enough" in handheld mode with some pop-in and frame-rate drops, according to a secondary aggregator. The Metacritic score reported was 91 from 21 reviews at the time, but we could not check that against Metacritic itself.
Price
A Game-Key Card was listed at $79.99 on Amazon US earlier in 2026, but this was not an official price. Look at the Nintendo eShop for the real price in your country.
