Blizzard moved the WoW Forever stress test from October 19 to October 21, 2026. It is a short server load test, not a content preview. This page gives the times, the steps to install the test client and the things that are still unclear. Facts were checked on October 21, 2026 against several outlets that quote Blizzard.
Key takeaways
- The test starts October 21 at 2:00 p.m. PDT, which is 19:00 CEST and 18:00 BST.
- Any World of Warcraft account can join. No subscription, Game Time, invite or beta access is needed.
- Every character, name and guild made during the test is deleted when it ends.
- The beta goes offline shortly before the test and is expected to come back afterward.
- WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026.

How long will it last?
Blizzard says only that the test lasts several hours and may end earlier or run later. Outlets differ. Warcraft Tavern lists about four hours, ending near 6:00 p.m. PDT. MeinMMO expects about eight hours, until roughly 3:00 a.m. CEST. Treat the end time as unknown and plan for the first four hours.
How to install the stress test
- Update your graphics drivers.
- Open the Battle.net desktop app and let it update.
- Select World of Warcraft, then open the Game Version menu above the Play button.
- Under In Development, choose the WoW Forever stress test entry and click Install. You can pre-install before the start time.
- When servers open, press Play and pick an available test realm.
- Create a new test character and enter the world.
What Blizzard wants you to do
The goal is to test servers under heavy load on the regional hardware planned for launch. Blizzard asks players to make a character, finish a few quests, trade items, chat and group up. You do not need to reach a level or raid. Expect queues, disconnects and lag. That is the point of the test.
The wipe rule
Name reservation is a separate step. According to Blizzard's pre-purchase terms reported by outlets, buyers of the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection can reserve names from October 27 to November 3. See our price and editions guide.
The beta and the date confusion
Some early articles still say October 19. That was the first plan, and it was moved by two days. The beta pauses for the test and then returns. Warcraft Tavern says it closes at 10:00 a.m. PDT on Friday, October 23, while MeinMMO quotes Blizzard's forum for 7:00 p.m. CEST the same day. These are different clock times, so check Blizzard's own post. Launch is November 4 in the Americas. MeinMMO writes midnight CET on November 5 for Europe, which is the same moment.
