AION 2 parents guide: age rating, chat and spending

AION 2 is a fantasy MMORPG with flying combat. It is free to play, which makes it easy for teens to start. This guide covers the rating, chat and spending, using official ratings and press reports checked on October 9, 2026.

Key takeaways

• ESRB T (Teen) and PEGI 16.
• Players can chat with strangers.
• There are in-game purchases, battle passes and paid Founder's Packs.
• Set a spending limit and chat rules before the first session.

Age rating

The ESRB rates AION 2 T for Teen with content descriptors for Blood and Gore, Language, Suggestive Themes and Violence. It also notes that users interact and that there are in-game purchases. PEGI rates it 16+. The Steam page describes general mature content and gore.

Online chat

MMORPGs have public and group chat. Anyone can type to your child, and voice or third-party apps may be used to team up. Talk about what to do if someone asks for personal details or acts rudely.

Talk with your teen

Rules work better when you agree on them together. Ask which guild or group they play with, and how long a dungeon run takes, so you can plan stopping points.

Steps to set up

1. Create the account yourself, or review it with your teen.
2. Use Steam Family settings and payment controls so purchases need approval.
3. Do not save a card on a shared computer.
4. Teach your teen to mute and block people in chat.
5. Agree on play time. MMOs have no natural end point.
