Any modern one. A common path is Silent Hill 2 remake, then Silent Hill f, then Townfall (editorial opinion).

Where to start

Each modern game is a standalone story: Maine for Silent Hill 2, 1960s Japan for Silent Hill f and 1996 Scotland for Townfall. No prior knowledge is needed. Our suggested order, which is an opinion, is Silent Hill 2 remake, then Silent Hill f, then Townfall. Any order works.

What is still coming

A remake of the first game is in development at Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake. No release date is announced. A rumor says 2027, but that is unconfirmed.

Spin-offs worth knowing

Besides the main series there are a few spin-offs: Book of Memories (2012, PS Vita), P.T. (2014, since removed from sale) and The Short Message (2024, PS5). You can skip all of them. Availability of older Windows releases such as Silent Hill 2 and 3 is unclear, so we do not link to them. Starting with a modern game is the safest route for new players.
