Cars are the heart of any GTA game, but Rockstar has not published an official vehicle list for GTA VI. What we do have is footage from the Extended Look, a few named vehicles in Rockstar's edition pages and some details from the Game Informer cover story. This guide covers only what was shown or stated, as of October 10, 2026.
Key takeaways
- Cars and bikes can race on a dedicated track, as seen in the Extended Look.
- Water vehicles seen: fan boats, jet skis and canoes. Kayaking is also listed as an activity.
- Named cars exist only in edition bonuses, such as the '55 Vapid Stanier and the '95 Grotti Cheetah.
- A rideshare app called RydeMe lets you travel as a passenger.
- A full car list, tuning details and flying vehicles are not confirmed.
On the road: driving and police chases
TechRadar's Extended Look roundup says players can race cars and bikes on a real track. The footage also showed police chases. Shooting a pursuer's tires can make the car flip and crash, which suggests more physical damage than in earlier games. A six-star wanted level was noticed too, one more than GTA V's five. The showcase also had a cutscene-to-gameplay chase in which Jason shoots from a window while Lucia evades the police. Wikipedia reports that Rockstar's handling team includes race-car drivers, but Rockstar has not explained how that changes the driving model.
Bikes and motorcycles
Bikes are part of the track race in the Extended Look, and Rockstar's LOVE Magazine interview used a screenshot of Jason and Lucia with a bike. That confirms bikes exist. It does not tell us how many types there are, whether you can customize them or how they handle on wet roads, which the new weather system makes more interesting. See weather and wildlife for what is known about rain and storms.
On the water
Leonida has a lot of coast and wetland, so boats matter. Fan boats, jet skis and canoes were seen. GameSpot lists airboating, kayaking and jet-skiing among the confirmed activities, and the Extended Look also showed scuba diving. Swamp driving fits Grassrivers, while the Quays and the Keys fit boats and jet skis. These are our guesses based on the names, not region lists from Rockstar. For place names, see GTA 6 locations.
Named vehicles so far
Rockstar's support page names a handful of vehicles and vehicle-related items. Most are tied to editions, which matters if you are deciding what to buy.
| Name | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and garage | Vintage Vice City Pack (pre-order bonus) |
| '95 Grotti Cheetah | Ultimate Edition Upgrade |
| '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and garage | Ultimate Edition Upgrade |
| Ganado Retro Build | Ultimate Edition Upgrade |
| Shitzu Squalo | Ultimate Edition Upgrade |
| Jason's Safehouse Vehicles, Classic Car Collection | Ultimate Edition Upgrade |
| Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's mod shops | Ultimate Edition Upgrade |
The support page says Ultimate Edition items are spread across the story, with new ones unlocked behind each chapter. So they do not give a head start. Read our price and editions guide for the cost. Only the Stanier and the garages come with the pre-order pack.
Getting around without driving
The cover story coverage mentions RydeMe, a rideshare app. You can sit in the back, chat with NPCs, listen to music and skip ahead to a destination. It expands the taxi idea from GTA IV. Base jumping and parachuting offer another way down, and the radio reveal says players can listen to stations on foot using the character's phone and earbuds. Our radio stations list has the details.
Driving with two characters
The two-hero setup adds a new angle to vehicles. Coverage of the Extended Look says you can switch between Jason and Lucia with one button, and the game sweeps the camera over the city while it changes. In a car scene, one hero can drive while the other fights from the seat, so the second character is not just a passenger. Rockstar has not explained if you can issue orders to the character you are not controlling. It also has not said if each hero owns separate vehicles. The Ultimate Edition list mentions Jason's safehouse vehicles, which hints at personal garages, but that is a reading of a product name and not a feature description.
What we do not know
- A full list of cars, bikes and boats, and which are rare.
- Whether helicopters, planes or trains are drivable. None was confirmed in the sources we read.
- How damage, fuel or car theft alarms work.
- Whether the PS5 version runs smoothly in busy traffic. Reports say it runs at 30 frames per second on console for now, and Rockstar has not confirmed a 60 FPS mode.
Common mistakes
- Believing "leaked car list" posts. If Rockstar has not shown it, treat it as a rumor.
- Thinking bonus cars are cheats. They are normal in-game items from paid editions.
- Copying real-world driving behavior from the game. It is entertainment, and the dangerous driving shown is not safe on real roads.
