GTA 6 Trailer Easter Eggs and Theories: Fact vs Speculation

Rockstar trailers are packed with small details, and players love to hunt for them. The risk is that guesses spread like facts. This guide labels each item as confirmed (visible or stated in official material) or speculation (a fan or press reading). Checked on October 9, 2026.

Key takeaways

Confirmed facts are rare: the song, the settings and the release date are in official material.
Most easter eggs are interpretations. Rockstar has not confirmed them.
No theory below changes the release date or the story.

Confirmed in the trailers

Trailer 1 (December 5, 2023) uses Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road" from 1989.
Both trailers show Lucia and Jason, a Florida-style world and wetlands outside the city.
Florida-style jokes appear, such as a "Leonida Manatees" team and a hurricane sign, as listed by fans and press from Trailer 2.

Easter eggs fans noticed (not confirmed)

Detail	Where	Status
A lizard on a wall wearing a Hawaiian shirt like Tommy Vercetti's	Trailer 2, shop scene	Fan find; the outlet thinks it is intentional, Rockstar has not said
A plane banner reading "Why sixty nine when you can Nine1Nine"	Trailer 1	Press reads it as a club parody, not a date clue
Jason joking about "fixing some leaks" on a roof	Trailer 2	Fans read it as a nod to the leaks; unconfirmed

Theories

Character switching might return. No official word.
The original May 26, 2026 date matched Bonnie Parker's funeral date, so some fans guessed a sad ending. That date is now old, and the guess is pure speculation.
Phil Cassidy may appear in a TV ad, per some fans. Not confirmed.

How to spot a real easter egg

Look for a clear frame, more than one source, and a link to older games. If Rockstar does not confirm it, call it a theory. Next, read the Extended Look guide and check the GTA 6 hub for official updates.
