GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you want to be ready, a little preparation now saves a lot of stress later. Here is a simple checklist.
GTA VI19. november 20261. Check your console
The game is announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no PC version announced for launch, so make sure you know which platform you will play on. See our GTA 6 PC page for what is known.
2. Decide on your edition
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. As listed, the Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99. The offer also includes the Vintage Vice City Pack ('55 Vapid Stanier, Shore Court Garage and outfits). On the PlayStation Store there is also one month of GTA+, which you can claim by March 31, 2027. Prices can differ by country, so check your own store. More details are on the editions and price page.
3. Remember the physical copy is a code
Physical editions of GTA VI come as a download code, not a disc. That means you will download the game either way, so plan your internet connection.
4. Mark the pre-load date
Pre-load is planned for November 12. That is the day you can download the game before launch, so you can start playing as soon as it unlocks instead of waiting for a huge download. Start your download early on that day.
5. Free up storage
The official file size has not been announced. Fake sites have been listing huge numbers, so ignore them. Clear space on your console now, delete old games you don't play and keep a good margin for updates.
6. Clean up your accounts
Turn on two-step login for your PlayStation or Xbox account and your email. Scammers love launch weeks. Read our GTA 6 scams guide to know what to avoid.
7. Catch up on what is known
An Extended Look at gameplay, about 26 minutes long, was released on August 27, 2026. Our breakdown goes through what it showed. If you want to compare GTA 6 with the last game, read GTA 6 vs GTA 5.
8. Keep playing something while you wait
You still have a few weeks. GTA 5 roleplay servers are alive right now, and live streams show the community every day.
