Before you spend money, know this: the base game of World of Warcraft: Forever is included with a WoW subscription or game time. You do not need to buy a pack to play. The packs add the Skyborne race, a head start on name reservation, cosmetics and, in higher tiers, game time and a Warcraft III bundle. This guide explains what each edition contains, what it costs in US dollars, how game time and Invite-a-Friend codes work, which pack fits which type of player and what to watch out for. How we label facts: "Blizzard says" means the company's own announcement. "Reported" means a third-party guide that attributes the detail to Blizzard or to hands-on play. Checked October 31, 2026. Prices come from third-party sources that attribute them to Blizzard's pre-purchase page, so confirm the final price and your regional price in the Battle.net shop before you pay.
Key takeaways
- You need only a subscription or game time to play at launch on November 4, 2026. Packs are optional.
- Reported prices: Heroic $29.99, Epic $59.99, Collection $79.99 and a physical Collector's Edition at $150.
- Beta access ended on October 21, 2026, so buying a pack now no longer gives you beta time.
- The Collection is a limited-time offer reported to end on January 11, 2027.
- The new Skyborne race is only available if you own a pack.
What each pack contains
Skyborne Heroic Pack, $29.99
The cheapest tier unlocks the Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting experience, early name reservation between October 27 and November 3, a Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount, the Shen'dorei Skyseer's Garb outfit, a Veteran Adventurer's Rucksack, a Shen'dorei Windwell toy, Skyborne housing decor for modern WoW and one Invite-a-Friend code. It does not include beta access or game time. It is the right choice if the race and the early name claim are what you want, and nothing more.
Skyborne Epic Pack, $59.99
Epic includes everything in Heroic and adds beta access, 30 days of game time starting on November 4, a Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion mount, an outdoor wear transmog set, several pets (Zergling, Panda, Diablo and Pachimari), Lordaeron and Shen'dorei tabards and three Invite-a-Friend codes in total. Because it bundles a month of game time, part of the price is effectively a month of play you would buy anyway. If you were going to subscribe for November anyway, the real extra cost over Heroic is smaller than the price difference suggests.
Warcraft Forever Collection, $79.99
The Collection includes everything in Epic and adds Warcraft III: Reforged with its Forsaken Kingdom content, plus Forsaken and Human figurine decor. It is a limited-time edition reported to be on sale until January 11, 2027. It makes sense mainly for players who want Reforged too, or for fans who want everything.
Collector's Edition, $150
The physical box is reported to include beta access. Community guides warn that boxes can arrive too late for the early name reservation window. Blizzard's suggested workaround, according to a community guide, is to make a qualifying digital purchase and redeem the Collector's Edition code for Battle.net Balance credit by December 31, 2027. Upgrades between editions are not credited automatically, so check the rules carefully before buying a second pack.
Game time and the subscription
The subscription or game time is what actually lets you log in and play. Epic and the Collection include 30 days of game time from November 4. After those 30 days you need your own subscription or game time, which is sold separately. Reports say there is no WoW Token and no character boost for Forever, so the usual shortcuts are not available. If you already pay for WoW, Forever costs you nothing extra to play.
Invite-a-Friend launch codes
Packs include codes that let friends try launch week without a subscription. According to one reseller article, the codes are emailed from October 20 and work during launch week, November 4 to 11, Pacific time. They do not give beta access or early name reservation, which is the reason Invite-a-Friend codes do not qualify for reserving names. If you plan to play with friends, ask them to redeem the codes in time and to create characters on the same ruleset as yours.
Which pack should you buy?
- You just want to play Forever: buy nothing. Subscribe or use game time. A review recommends the base subscription for fans of the original game or of Hardcore Classic.
- You want the Skyborne race: Heroic is the cheapest way. See our guide to the Skyborne race to decide whether it is worth the money.
- You want to claim names early and play with a group: Epic gives three codes and a month of game time.
- You are a collector or want Reforged: the Collection is the only edition with Warcraft III: Reforged.
Worked cost examples
Numbers help more than adjectives. The table uses the reported US prices and a reported monthly subscription of $14.99. The most useful insight is that Epic costs only about $15 more than Heroic plus a month of subscription: $59.99 for Epic against $29.99 plus $14.99, which is $44.98. For that difference you get extra mounts, pets, tabards, two additional Invite-a-Friend codes and the beta access that has now expired. If you are not going to play beyond the first 30 days, then Epic is not "double the price" but a modest upgrade. If you will cancel after a month, the bundled game time is simply a month you would have paid for anyway.
* Friends who receive Invite-a-Friend codes can play during launch week, November 4 to 11, without paying, so the group example only needs paid time for those who continue afterward. Prices are illustrative; taxes and regional pricing differ.
How to buy safely, step by step
- Log in to the official Battle.net website or desktop app. Do not follow shop links from videos or messages.
- Confirm that you are on the WoW account you will actually play on. The early name reservation benefit is tied to one account.
- Compare the pack contents on the shop page with the table above, because Blizzard can change them.
- Check the final price with taxes in your currency and read the refund terms on the checkout page.
- After the purchase, open the game launcher and confirm the pack shows up as owned. Keep the email receipt.
Common mistakes
- Buying a pack for beta access after October 21. The beta has ended, so beta access has no remaining value.
- Buying on the wrong account. The benefit does not move between accounts.
- Expecting game time to cover months. Epic and the Collection add only 30 days.
- Assuming the Collector's Edition guarantees early names. Boxes can arrive late. Read the credit workaround above.
- Ignoring that the base game is already included. The subscription is the real ticket.

Three player profiles
The returning veteran
You played the original game, you still have an active subscription or plan to resubscribe, and you mostly care about the world and the pace. You do not need a pack. The review we read recommends the base subscription for players who loved the original game or Hardcore Classic. If a pack tempts you, the Heroic tier is enough to try the Skyborne race, but keep in mind that the race is a starting zone and a cosmetic identity, not an advantage that changes how raids or dungeons work.
The group organizer
You play with friends or a guild and want everyone ready on day one. Here Epic or the Collection is attractive, because they come with three Invite-a-Friend codes and 30 days of game time. The codes let friends test launch week without a subscription, which lowers the barrier for the one friend who is "not sure". Remember that codes are emailed from October 20, expire at the end of launch week and do not give name reservation, so ask friends to redeem them early and to agree on a ruleset and a shared second name.
The collector
You buy editions for the extras. The Collection is the only tier that includes Warcraft III: Reforged with its expansion, and its sale is reported to end on January 11, 2027. The physical Collector's Edition at $150 is the premium choice, with the caveat about late delivery. In either case, buy from the official shop and keep your receipt and codes in a safe place.
Is the Skyborne paywall fair?
A reviewer criticizes that a new race is behind a $30 pack. The counter-argument is that the base game, with all zones, dungeons and raids, is included in the subscription, so the pack only buys an optional race and cosmetics. Whichever side you take, make the decision with the facts in front of you and do not feel pressure to buy because of the name reservation. Names can still be created at launch, just without the head start.
Regional prices, taxes and refunds
All prices above are in US dollars. In the euro area a $29.99 pack was reported at about 29.99 euros, but local taxes and regional pricing can change the amount. Check the final total in the Battle.net shop. Refund policies for digital items are set by Blizzard and differ by country, so read the terms on the checkout page before paying.
Scams to avoid
- Do not buy packs, codes or accounts from unofficial sellers. A code from an unknown marketplace can be revoked.
- Do not pay for "boosts", gold or account sales. Reviews say Forever punishes both gold buyers and sellers.
- Only log in at the official Battle.net website or app. Phishing pages copy the shop.
What we still do not know
We did not find an official list of regional prices in the sources we checked, and the contents of the packs can change. We will update this page if Blizzard changes pricing or adds editions. For the launch time see our launch guide, and for naming rules our name reservation guide.
